“Estate planning is one of the most difficult thing I have ever done. We all work hard for our money and that should be respected in life and after it. It’s so complex it is easy to find any excuse to not do it. End of life planning is hard. Pride Plans made it much easier.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is LGBTQ+ Pride Planning and what services does it offer?

LGBTQ+ Pride Planning is a online platform designed to deliver estate planning services to the LGBTQ+ community at a lower price point than a conventional law firm. There are no meetings with attorneys to plan your estate through LGBTQ+ Pride Planning, which is how we are able to offer the documents at a lower price point. Instead, it offers tools to create wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives, as well as organizing personal information, assets, and digital content. The documents generated are designed by LGBTQ+ attorneys and legal professionals will review every document generated through the website before it is delivered to you. While LGBTQ+ Pride Planning attorneys and legal professionals are not licensed in every state, they collaborate with legal professionals in other states where possible to attempt to ensure state-specific compliance in each state and they still provide a review of the documents to make sure they properly reflect your wishes.

How much does LGBTQ+ Pride Planning cost?

LGBTQ+ Pride Planning offers different pricing tiers. A Will-Based Estate Plan starts at $500, while a Trust-Based Estate Plan is $750. Both plans include updates within the first three (3) months of purchase and plan to offer subscription plans to allow you to make unlimited updates in the future. Some documents like Powers of Attorney, Pet Directives, Disposition of Remains, Hospital Visitation Authorizations, and Health Care Directives are free with any Will or Trust or can be purchased a la carte. For the first three months, updates to the documents are included! After that, updates can still be made for a fraction of what was originally paid, not the full entire amount. The cost of the updates will depend on the nature and volume of the edits requested.

Is LGBTQ+ Pride Planning a law firm?

LGBTQ+ Pride Planning was created and operated by attorneys licensed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, and Arizona. While LGBTQ+ Pride Planning is not a law firm, legal professionals do review each document to ensure the documents properly reflect your wishes and all documents are tailored to your specific-state needs (and collaborate where possible with legal professionals in other jurisdictions) and the legal professionals behind LGBTQ+ Pride Planning will review your documents with a specific eye on state-required terms. If you have state-specific legal needs, you should consult an attorney in that state.

What makes LGBTQ+ Pride Planning different from other estate planning services?

So much! We offer documents crafted over two decades that benefit the LGBTQ+ community. We include documents many other online services and law firms do not offer, such as Pet Directives and Hospital Visitation Authorizations geared toward the LGBTQ+ Community. We also include protective LGBTQ+ provisions and definitions in our documents. Finally, a human eye and touch is on every estate plan as each estate plan is reviewed by a legal professional before it is delivered to you!

Is there a money-back guarantee?

While we believe you will be satisfied with your documents, LGBTQ+ Pride Planning offers a money-back guarantee up to twenty (20) days following your purchase and prior to you receiving your documents. Once you receive your documents, LGBTQ+ Pride Planning is unable to issue a refund because the documents are already received, but LGBTQ+ Pride Planning will make any modifications or updates to the documents within ninety (90) days of you receiving the documents to make sure they meet your needs!

How does it work?

Everything is done online through the website!

Choose your package. Start here: https://prideplans.com/packages.

  1. Complete the questionnaire. You’ll answer questions for yourself (and your spouse, if applicable). A downloadable reference guide is available on the first page to walk you through it.
  2. We review and finalize. Once submitted, our team reviews your answers, follows up with any clarifications, and prepares your documents.
  3. Sign. You’ll receive your customized documents with clear instructions on how to sign, notarize, store, and share them.
Can I make updates to these documents? How does that work?

We know life changes, and your documents should be able to change with you. LGBTQ+ Pride Planning plans to have subscription option in the future that will allow you access to your estate planning documents in an editable format so you can make unlimited updates to these documents as life circumstances change! In the meantime, you can make updates by reaching out to us at any time for updates. You’ll never have to pay full price again—costs will depend on the scope of changes but will only be a fraction of your original investment.

What makes these documents legally effective? Do I have to file them?

Your documents become legally binding once you sign, witness, and notarize them following our instructions. There’s no requirement to file them with the court or hire a local attorney. While some counties allow wills and other documents to be filed with probate court, it’s optional, not mandatory. After signing, simply follow the guidance in your Care Letter (and Trust Funding Letter, if applicable) that you receive from us to safeguard and share your documents.

What's the Difference between Will-Based and Trust-Based Packages?

If your circumstances are more straightforward, the Will-Based Package may be sufficient. But for couples, homeowners, or anyone seeking stronger protections, the Trust-Based Package is often the best fit. Our Trust-Based Package includes everything in the Will-Based Package plus added protections that make it the ideal choice if:

  1. You own or plan to own property. A trust ensures your real estate is protected and passes smoothly.
  2. You want to avoid probate. Trusts allow your loved ones to receive their inheritance faster, with fewer costs and less court involvement.
  3. You want secure co-ownership. A trust ensures that assets remain with your partner or spouse—even if marriage equality is challenged.
  4. You value privacy. With a trust, assets are owned in the trust’s name rather than your personal name, keeping your affairs confidential.
How do I make sure everything goes to my spouse/partner first, and then to others in the questionnaire?

If you and your spouse/partner select that you share residue beneficiaries, everything automatically goes to the survivor of one another first. You don’t need to list each other again as primary or contingent beneficiaries in the questionnaire.

  • Primary beneficiaries should be the people you want your assets to go to if neither of you is alive (for example, if you both pass in the same accident).
  • Contingent beneficiaries should be different people who would inherit if your primary beneficiaries cannot.

If you prefer separate beneficiaries (rather than sharing residue), and you do not want everything to go the survivor of the other first, then list your spouse/partner as one of your primary beneficiaries along with anyone else you’d like to include. Your contingent beneficiaries should then be different people not already listed as primaries.
